A Breath of Fresh Air
I joined for community service… I stay for the friends I’ve made.
Doug Taylor had been to many Rotary meetings as a guest of his father-in-law who told him, “If you’re ever invited to join a club you should give it serious consideration.” Not long after his work moved him to Portland, Taylor was invited to the Northeast Portland Rotary Club and he joined. After his work moved to Beaverton about a year later, he changed clubs and has been a member of the Beaverton Rotary Club ever since.
When asked what he enjoys most about Rotary he replied, “I find my weekly club meetings to be a breath of fresh air where I have longtime friends; learn from the programs and participate actively.” Taylor continues, “I have gained close friends that I will have for the rest of my life. In addition I have become deeply involved in community work through Rotary. Because of these experiences, when I retired, I decided to make myself available for Rotary leadership beyond the club level.”
